mylab+@Jogja - Session ONE: Case Study

The Bold and Beautiful Tiger Stripes of Co-Production

A film as playful as an adorable kitty and as fierce as a beast pushed into a corner to survive. Infused with the vibrant energy of youth and the terror of puberty and suppression of femininity, the film will delight and defy your expectations of a coming of age film.

Tiger Stripes is a co-production between Malaysia, Taiwan, Singapore, France, Germany, Netherlands, Indonesia and Qatar (8 countries) which is an extraordinary feat for a first time director and her producing partners. During this case study, we delve into the journey the film has gone from development at the various labs, to the stage of co-production and financing at the various project markets and funds, to being invited to Cannes Semaine De la Critique, to the bitter sweet journey of being the Malaysian entry to the Academy Awards. We will also explore how the director and producers work with the various creative heads from all over the world and with a special focus on the collaboration between the director and the Indonesian composer, Gabber Modus Operandi, represented by Kasimyn, in creating the soundscape of the turmoil within a girl discovering her feminine powers and animal spirits.
