Wojciech Staron

Graduated the Cinematography Department of the Polish Film School in Lodz. His debut documentary, Siberian Lesson (1998), premiered at Krakow Film Festival, where it won a Silver Hobby-Horse and a Polish Canal+ Award. It also got a Cinéma du Réel award, Audience Award at Århus Film Festival and a Special Mention at IDFA.

His other movie, Argentinian Lesson (2011), received wide critical acclaim and won numerous awards, such as Cinema Eye Honors Spotlight Award, Docu/Life Award at Docudays and Golden Horn, Best Film, Best Cinematography, Polish Society of Cinematographers and National Competition awards at Krakow Film Festival.

One of his works, Brothers (2015), brought home Film Critics Week Award from Locarno International Film Festival, Golden Dove from Dok Leipzig and a Grand Prix from Listapad in Minsk, among many others.

As a Director of Photography, Wojciech has shot over 40 fiction and documentary films. Three times his work has been awarded prizes at the world’s most prestigious festival of cinematography, Camerimage. In 2011, his work in El premio by Paula Markovitch was awarded the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival for Outstanding Artistic Achievement.
