Whammy Alcazaren

Whammy Alcazaren is a director and production designer. As production designer, he has worked on Carlo Manatad’s WHETHER THE WEATHER IS FINE and Raya Martin’s DEATH OF NINTENDO.
FISTING: NEVER TEAR US APART was his third feature film for which he won Best Director and Jury prize at the Cinema One Originals Film Festival 2018. He recently made his very first short film, BOLD EAGLE, to huge success winning Best International Short at the Fantasia Film Festival 2023 and was part of the Currents Section of the 61st New York Film Festival.

After being a schoolteacher for ten years, Alemberg ANG shifted into film producing. His filmmaking is shaped by his passion for socio-civic issues, and Philippine arts and literature. His films have screened in Cannes, Toronto, Busan, among others. His filmography includes Alvin Yapan’s “The Rapture of Fe” (2009, Best Digital Feature at Cairo) about a battered wife’s journey into freedom, Chie Hayakawa’s “Plan 75” (2022, Camera D’or Special Mention, Cannes Un Certain Regard) about Japan’s social systems and their care for their elderly and “Bold Eagle” (2023, NYFF and Best Short at Fantasia).
