Bianca Balbuena
Bianca Balbuena is a Philippine-based producer and CEO of Epicmedia Productions Inc. which has produced over 40 feature films, shorts and series most notably Venice Film Festival Lion of the Future “Engkwentro" by Pepe Diokno, Berlinale Silver Bear "A Lullaby To The Sorrowful Mystery" by Lav Diaz, Cannes Film Festival Critics Week’s “The Manila Lover” by Johanna Pykko, and local blockbuster hits “That Thing Called Tadhana”, “Fan Girl” and “Patay Na Si Hesus”, all acquired by Netflix after a successful domestic run. She has also done several co-productions with Japan, Australia, France, Norway, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and most recently with Ireland starring Eva Green and Mark Strong. She was also part of the jury at the film festivals in Sydney, Fribourg, Seashorts, Durban and Qcinema. Mentored at Locarno Open Doors, Talents Tokyo, Berlinale Talents, she is also EAVE’s ambassador for Asia. She was awarded Busan Asian Film Commissions Network Producer of the Year and the Asia Pacific Screen Awards FIAPF Outstanding contribution to Asia Pacific cinema. She is also an educator at the University of the Philippines Diliman.
