Alex Sihar

Alex Sihar works as a Special Staff for the Director General of Culture, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, the Republic of Indonesia in a field of cultural policy development. Founder and Director of the Konfiden Foundation, Indonesia since 1999. In 2009-2012 he served as Chair of the Film Committee of the Jakarta Arts Council (DKJ) and in 2012-2015 served as Secretary General. In 2012 with the Konfiden Foundation he participated in the restoration of the Indonesian film classic titled "Lewat Djam Malam" by Usmar Ismail, in collaboration with the National Museum of Singapore. In 2015 initiated another restoration of Indonesian classic titled “Tiga Dara” (Usmar Ismail, 1956). Active in organizations, making him the Steering Committee for the establishment of the Indonesian Arts Coalition (2010), the Ad-hoc Committee for the establishment of the Indonesian Film Agency (2011), the Working Committee for the Indonesian Fine Arts Congress (KKI - Indonesian Art Congress), and also a founding member of AFAN (Asian Film Alliance Network) in 2023. He also served as the Head of Policy Advocacy of the Indonesian Film Board (BPI) 2018-2022, and elected as the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of BPI since 2022.
